The internet is still perplexed over what happened to Tom Cruise's face during the last several months - and it doesn't appear that we are any closer to finding the answers we crave!
Concerns over the 59-year-old Top Gun star's appearance first surfaced after he was seen with a swollen face while watching a baseball game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Francisco Giants with his 26-year-old son Connor on Saturday, October 9th. Unlike some celebrities who like to hide away after an alleged cosmetic treatment, the Jerry Maguire star didn't appear to have anything to hide, as onlookers reported he was joyful, waving to fans, and clearly having a good time.
Cruise was also seen with a swollen face in behind-the-scenes photos from his new Mission: Impossible film, leading many to speculate that he had Botox, fillers, or perhaps a full-fledged face lift.
Given that the Edge of Tomorrow actor looks nothing like he did when he first started his career and has never admitted to doing any work, we don't expect to hear any formal confirmation from him very soon. So all we can do is speculate!
Interestingly, the actor was spotted looking like his normal self again just a few weeks later, but even more recently on November 15th, he was spotted at the Duxford Airfield in Cambridgeshire filming some stunts for Mission: Impossible 8, and was sporting a mystery mark on his cheek that he reportedly did not try to hide.
Fans have flocked to social media once more to ask questions regarding the mystery mark and his very unusual face in general, as no one seems to have the answers! Instead than hearing from fans (and occasionally trolls), we'd like to hear from medical professionals this time. It's worth noting that neither of the aforementioned medical professionals has claimed to work with Cruise, and that they were only consulted for a more expert perspective on what the actor may have possibly done, and even what they might counsel him to do.
According to Radar Online, Pam Agullo, MD, the actor's face could be due to ""I'm shocked to see how much Tom Cruise has altered," he says. He'd kept up his fine looks for a long time. He appears to have gained a lot of weight, or it could be a case of filler misuse. If that's the case, it's a perfect example of how fillers, in the wrong hands, can make you look older." She then said, "It will be interesting to see if the rest of his body gains weight as well."
Dr. Frank Agullo, her husband, agreed with her, telling Radar Online: "He appears to have acquired facial weight or had too many cheek fillers. He has excess upper eyelid skin and creases around the eyes, and a blepharoplasty and skin tightening might help. He also has jowls and loose neck skin, which could be improved with skin tightening or a lower facelift." We'll keep an eye on Cruise's face over the following few months to see if it changes even more!
On recent red carpets, notably the Top Gun: Maverick premiere in London and the Cannes Film Festival, the Jack Reacher actor looked *again* extremely different. Only this time, both fans and plastic specialists believe that the actor hasn't had any new plastic surgery, but he could be doing the reverse, taking a page from Simon Cowell's book and avoiding surgery for good! (Who could have imagined such a dramatic U-turn?)
Although his appearance at the end of 2021 was attributed to alleged cosmetic surgery that hadn't yet settled, it's been suggested that his most recent appearance could be due to the surgery finally settling (hence the very visible fine lines on the actor's face) and him opting out of any top ups, or a combination of slightly different cosmetic treatments. We also can't ignore his longer hairstyle, which could be down to his simply deciding to grow it out, or it could be due to something else, such as a recent hair transplant. But we're always curious to hear what the experts have to say…
According to Dawn Attewell, Registered Aesthetics Nurse at therapyhouse.co.uk, Cruise's previous appearance was likely due to "excessive filler" and "post-procedure edoema," while his current appearance may be linked to a "hair transplant" and "skin tightening treatments." Of course, this is based on the actor's refusal to discuss what treatments he has or has not received. "You can see in the infamous October 2021 photo that Tom appeared swollen and puffy, which might be due to excessive filler, post-procedure swelling, or weight gain," Attewell explained. "This type of swelling in these locations is frequently caused by surgical procedures such as platysmaplasty, or neck lift, paired with a mid-facelift."Tom looked great at the Top Gun premiere, and he looks younger. He may have gotten Botox or filler. At nearly 60, Tom's hairline has stayed reasonably consistent, but somewhat thinning, implying that he may have received hair transplants. His jawline is more contoured, which may be due to skin tightening procedures such as Morpheus8, a micro needling therapy for fine lines and wrinkles."
AMS Aesthetics founder Amar Suchde added: "Many men lose some facial fat distribution as they age, as well as elastin and skin fibres. This, along with creases around the eyes, can really look extremely nice on a man, but it appears that Tom tried to restore some of the facial fat he'd naturally lost in October, resulting in a notably plumper appearance. I believe his goal was to restore some of the features he'd lost and to support his face structure, which would most likely be accomplished with a combination of fillers and Botox, though we don't know if he'd gained weight at the same time."
"In any case, Tom has managed to keep his well-known jawline over the years, which many men lose and begin to sag," Suchde remarked. "Moreover, his luminous complexion may indicate that Tom is receiving laser treatment, possibly Profhilo, which is a popular skin enhancing procedure." Whatever he's doing or not doing, it appears to be working since admirers agree that he has never looked better!
