Peloton is a high in-demand exercise equipment company. The customers have appreciated how they integrated the healthcare industry with wireless health optimization at promising rates.

Peloton Bike

One of my friends recently bought a Peloton bike and raves about it, so I was intrigued and wanted to learn more. Is the (high) initial investment worthwhile? It makes sense, after all, if you ride your bike every day as your primary source of exercise. Not so much if it hangs in the corner and is used to drape your "not dirty but too slothful to hang back up" apparel.

I conducted research, spoke with three MySavingPoint Peloton owners, and crunched comparison figures to find out. Here's what I discovered:

What's a Peloton Bike?

For those unfamiliar with the Peloton brand, the Peloton bike is a high-quality home exercise bike that allows you to work out at home (yes!). However, rather than simply pedaling along with your Spotify Motivation Mix in your earbuds, Peloton connects you to live and on-demand workouts, allowing instructors to motivate and push you.

To keep you pushing hard instead of gently cycling while flipping through a magazine (not that I'd ever do that), the bike has performance-tracking data and a real-time leaderboard. Peloton does not provide sales figures, but the company claims that the Peloton community has about 1 million members (that includes home riders, app subscribers, and studio and commercial riders). Because the bike was so popular, the business decided to create a treadmill as well.

Peloton Tread

After many incidences of small children and a pet being hurt beneath Peloton Tread+ workout machines, US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) warned consumers on April 17, 2022. If you have small children or pets at home, it is now recommended that you discontinue using the Peloton Tread+.

Peloton said on May 5 that it is recalling the Peloton Tread+ treadmills, which cost more than $4,200, and will issue full refunds. Yes, this means Peloton will cease selling them as well, but they hope to reintroduce them once they've been fixed.

Price of Treadmill: Begins $4,295 for the starting package, with financing available at $111 per month for 39 months. Peloton recently announced that starting in early 2022, it will sell a lower-cost treadmill for $2,495. Peloton's existing treadmill, called the Tread+, will remain on the market for $4,295.

Peloton Owners Share Some Words

Robert M. – MySavingPoint

When did you get your Peloton?

About eight months.

How many times a week do you use it?

Depending on how much I lift, one to three times.

What were you doing in terms of fitness before?

I wasn't doing any cardio and was solely doing weights. I avoided cardio because I despised it and refused to run. I don't have good knees or the motivation to do cardio exercises. I have a combination-smith machine at home for lifting, and I needed to incorporate cardio into my program.

Is the Peloton worth it? People want to hear you out

It was well worth the effort. Although the initial cost was high, I enjoyed the Peloton cycling lessons. Thirty-minute climbs go very quickly, and I'm fatigued by the end. I appreciate the professors pushing me along every step of the way. During the workouts, I don't feel like I'm on my own at all. I can follow my progress with the digital understanding of resistance and performance, and I also have a heart monitor to ensure I'm not slacking. I appreciate being able to check precise metrics on my workouts. The variety of instructors and music is very appealing to me. There is something for everyone there. The main drawback is cycling itself, not the bike. Squats and other resistance training that exercises your muscles in diverse ways are highly recommended since the motions involved train, particularly specific muscles.

I am overjoyed that I purchased the bike. I had my doubts about the value at first, but I am glad I went through and bought it. It's a fantastic deal for someone who is serious about riding. It's still a fantastic workout and fun for those who aren't, and it'll keep you involved.

Marsh - MySavingPoint

When did you get your Peloton?

Our Peloton has been with us for about four months.

How many times a week do you use it?

It varies, but it's probably two to three times per week on average. I was a little slack over the holidays, but it's a low barrier to getting back in the saddle (literally) because it's in our living room, where I see it all the time.

What were you doing in terms of fitness before?

I was practicing yoga once or twice a week and either running or jumping on my bike trainer if the weather was favorable. I have a road bike as well as a bike trainer that I can use in front of the television.

Is the Peloton exercise equipment worth it?

It was really worth it for us. The fact that it is used by myself, my wife, and our son on occasion indicate that it is well-used. I like the live leaderboard, the variety of classes, and the overall quality of the bike. However, if you're ready to be a little less "connected," you may get a comparable workout for a lot less money. Setting up a bike trainer and watching a YouTube ride up one of the Tour de France climbs, for example, was crushing me just as much. However, this might become monotonous after a while, which is where the Peloton classes/instructors' variety and involvement really shine. They do an excellent job of tuning up the classes and keeping track of previous statistics to keep things interesting.

Nina - MySavingPoint

When did you get your Peloton?

A period of two weeks.

How many times a week do you use it?

Two to four times a week, primarily on weekends and evenings.

What were you doing in terms of fitness before?

Prior to joining the Peloton, my training routine was chaotic and erratic. My husband and I both had YMCA memberships, and I would go to gym courses early in the morning or late in the evening on a regular basis. I would work out in the gym at work on occasion, but it was always erratic due to my schedule.

Is the Peloton, in your perspective, worth it?

Definitely 100 %! What I appreciate the best about it is its handiness, and I can do it on my own time. I don't have to feel remorseful about skipping classes or struggling to get to the gym at 6 a.m. or at 6 p.m.

Conclusion

I recently forced a buddy to demonstrate her bike to me. It's quite cool. It's true. It's difficult not to utilize it because even if you don't feel like taking a class, you can do something enjoyable like virtually pedal through the streets of Paris, which was a lot of fun.

Whatever gets you motivated and moving is worth it, as every other fitness essay ever written points out. I have yet to find a dissatisfied Peloton user (if you are, please contact us; we'd love to learn what didn't work for you!). It becomes more affordable to spend on the Peloton for those of us who have more than one person in our family who would use it. If you're still undecided, go to a Peloton showroom and try one out.

An Alternative to the Peloton Bike

Do you want to buy a Peloton but are put off by the price? If you don't want to splurge $2,000 on a new Peloton*, follow these instructions for a far less expensive "Peloton Experience":

Step 1: Purchase a used commercial bike

Indoor riding at home can be done in a variety of ways. The problem with buying a new indoor cycle under $1,200, like the Peloton, is that they are all residential grade. Construction quality, sturdiness, and longevity are all factors to consider.

RTC Fitness Equipment suggests acquiring a used commercial-grade indoor cycling cycle like the Keiser M3 from RTC Fitness Equipment. The Keiser M3 is a commercial-grade indoor cycling cycle that is now one of the most popular on the market. Commercial fitness equipment is typically more pleasant than domestic fitness equipment because it is built to last.

Tip: Unlike Pelotons, Keiser M3s do not need to be plugged in, allowing you to put your Keiser cycle wherever you choose in your home.

Step 2: Get a Tab or phone stand

Each Peloton cycle and the treadmill have a built-in touchscreen. Peloton's content is fantastic, giving users access to hours of on-demand and live streaming content. The drawback is that the touchscreen can only stream Peloton content right now, so you won't be able to watch your favorite Netflix show on the Peloton screens.

Using a spin bike mount ($50) will allow you to access Peloton content (classes, programs, live streams, and so on) as well as your preferred streaming programming (more on that in Step 3).

Step 3: Download Peloton Digital App

You can choose from over 10,000 pre-recorded sessions or up to 14 live daily spin classes via the Peloton app. You may still access all of the fantastic content that Peloton Bike customers enjoy by installing Peloton's Digital app and using your own iOS or Android device, but you will pay $12 per month instead of $39 per month. Both iOS and Android devices may use the Peloton app.

Step 4: Enjoy exercise at home

Check out RTC Fitness Equipment if you have any inquiries.

*The Peloton price is based on the cost of the bike, shoes, and delivery, as well as the cost of the Peloton app subscription for the year.
